    Edger Allen Poe was known for his poetry and stories. His wording and was of writing made his work so loved and well known, so what was the inspiration for his deep stories? It is not very well known but when Poe was young he moved to Boston, a college drop-out. He quickly moved into his career of writing poems. His first book was Tameriane and Other Poems, which he wrote in 1827. Two years later, he wrote his second book of poetry, Al Aaraaf, Temeriane and Minor Poems in 1829. Poe then struggled with fame, but in 1836 he became well known for his mystery stories. Which was when he started the detective genre and people fell in love with his works. His desired books have even sold for 200,000 dollars before. Poe is well known for many stories, such as The Tell-Tale Heart, which was written in 1843, and The Cast Of Amantiado, in 1846 which were both written in the peak of his career. Also written in his peak, was The Murders in the Rue Morgue and The Masque of the Red Death. These books were written in 1841 and 1842. He is also very well known for The Fall of the House of Usher, The Raven, Annabel Lee, and Eldorado. These are all believed to be inspired by his life which was always filled with death.
    Edgar Allan POe dided on October 7, 1849 at age fourty in Maryland. He had traveled by train from Richmond to Baltimore on September 28. While in Richmond, he had proposed marriage to a woman who would have of beccome his second wife, because his first wife died. Poe intended to continue on to Philadelphis to finalize so business when he became ill. He was then later discovered lying unconscious on September 28 on a wooden plank outs Ryan's saloon on Lombard St. in Baltimore. No one really knew the real mystery of his death, but almost one hundred and fourty seven years after he died, doctors at the University of Maryland Medical Center beleive that he may haved died as a result of rabies, and not from the complications of alcholism. Edgar Allan Poe is now remembered to be an amazing poet that has writen about 50 poems, most becoming very famous.

    Edgar Allan Poe was born in Boston on January 19, 1809. His mother was Elizabeth Arnold Poe who was an English-born American actress and his father, David Poe, Jr. was also an actor. He abandoned his wife and children in 1810, when his youngest daughter, Rosalie was just an infant, and Edgar was barely one year old. He had two siblings, Rosalie McKenzie Poe and William Henry Leonard Poe. After the death of their parents, the three Poe children were split up. Frances Allan convinced her wealthy merchant husband, John to take the Edgar into their home. It was there that Edgar was raised, with his early influences being the stories of house slaves and the tales told by skippers and sea merchants. It was also his school experiences that had experienced his writing. Edgar then attended boarding school in London throughout his younger years. He then finished school in Richmond, VA and spent one year the University of Virginia before his step father pulled him out. Virginia Eliza Clemm Poe was the wife of Edgar Allan Poe from 1822-1847. The couple was first cousins and married when Virginia Clemm was 13 and Poe was 27. Virginia influenced Edgar a lot on his writing. Edgar Allan had no money and no job skills. He went to Boston and joined the U.S. Army in 1827 at the age of 18. He did reasonably well in the Army and attained the rank of sergeant major. Mrs. Allan who is Edgar's step mother later on died soon after that. John Allan, Edgar's step father tried to be friendly towards Edgar and signed Edgar's application to West Point. While waiting to enter West Point, Edgar lived with his grandmother and his aunt, Mrs. Clemm. He also lived there with his step-brother and his cousin. In 1830, Edgar Allan entered West Point as a cadet. He didn’t' stay long because John Allan refused to send him any money. It is thought that Edgar purposely broke the rules and ignored his duties so he would be dismissed. In 1831, Poe went to New York City where he had some of his poetry published. He submitted stories to a number of magazines and they were all rejected. Edgar had no friends, no job, and was in a lot of financial trouble. A latter from him to John Allan was sent for money, but John never sent any. John Allan then later on died in 1834 and in the will Edgar was no mentioned.

    Poe lived in a very important time in American History, and a time the influenced his writing very much. In 1812, Charles Dickens was born, which may have influenced his very much. In 1814, the Star Spangled Banner was written. Also, in 1843, the very first telegraph line was created. As well as how in 1845, Texas and Florida became states of the U.S. and in 1849 the California Gold Rush happened. Something else that may have influenced him may have his family and his people close to him. His parents were David and Elizabeth Poe, they had three kids, him being one of them. He married his fifteen-year-old cousin, Virginia Clemm when he was 27. He lived with her and his aunt most of his life as well.
